Speaker: Dave Razo
Successful people focus on their goals and create opportunities. They have a vision.
Hey, good morning, Coach Dave here just wanted to emphasize the importance and the impact of having a clear vision. I was reminded of a commencement speaker, who was speaking at a prestigious university. And, he asked the graduating class, who here has a definite plan for their lives? But, only about three people raised their hands.
Then 25 years later, when he checked back in, those three individuals had a net worth that was superior to the net worth of all the other students combined. So, people who know where they are going always achieve far greater levels of success. Successful people focus on their goals and create opportunities. They have a vision.
So, raises the question, can your mind tell the difference between what you imagine, and what is real? Well, the proof is in the pudding. There was an experiment done out of the University of Chicago, and they wanted to figure this out for themselves. They took three groups of people. The first group shot free throws on a basketball court for one hour each day for a month. And then, they were going to measure their improvement from start to end.
Then, second group, just imagine shooting free throws in their mind for one hour each day for 30 days. And then, the third group was the control group, they did nothing at all. Now as you might expect, the control group had no improvement. But, the group that went to the basketball court and shot the free throws in court improved 24% at the end of that month.
Now, the ones who just imagined shooting free throws, improved 23%. So, just one percentage point different. The proof is in the pudding. Your imagination and your vision can drastically change your results. Coach Dave here, just another short burst hope you’re enjoying these, bye-bye.
The Power of Having a Clear Vision
Successful people understand the importance of having a clear vision and creating their own opportunities. They know where they want to go and they focus on their goals. This is the key to achieving great levels of success.
A commencement speaker at a prestigious university once asked the graduating class if they had a definite plan for their lives. Surprisingly, only a few individuals raised their hands. However, when the speaker checked back in with the class 25 years later, those three individuals who had a clear vision for their lives had a net worth that was superior to the net worth of all the other students combined. This is a clear example of how knowing where you are going can lead to greater levels of success.
Your Mind’s Ability to Differentiate Between Imagination and Reality
Can your mind tell the difference between what you imagine and what is real? An experiment conducted at the University of Chicago aimed to find the answer to this question. The researchers divided the participants into three groups.
The first group went to a basketball court and shot free throws for one hour each day for a month. The researchers measured their improvement from the beginning to the end of the month. The second group, on the other hand, only imagined shooting free throws in their minds for one hour each day for 30 days. The third group, the control group, did nothing at all.

Unsurprisingly, the control group showed no improvement. However, both the group that physically practiced shooting free throws and the group that only imagined it showed significant improvement. The group that practiced on the court improved by 24% by the end of the month, while the group that imagined shooting improved by 23%. The difference was only one percentage point.
This experiment clearly demonstrates the power of imagination and vision. Your ability to imagine and visualize your goals can drastically change your results. By having a clear vision of what you want to achieve, you can create a pathway to success.
So, the question is, how can you develop a clear vision for yourself?
Developing a Clear Vision for Success
Developing a clear vision requires self-reflection and goal setting. Here are a few steps you can take to create a clear vision for your own success:
Reflect on your passions and values: Take the time to understand what truly drives you and what you value the most. This will help you align your goals with your true desires.
Set specific goals: Define exactly what you want to achieve. Setting specific goals will give you a clear direction and purpose.
- Create a plan: Once you have defined your goals, develop a step-by-step plan to reach them. Break down your goals into smaller, manageable tasks.
- Visualize your success: Use the power of your imagination to visualize yourself achieving your goals. Imagine the steps you need to take and the obstacles you may encounter along the way. Visualize yourself overcoming these obstacles and reaching your desired outcome.
- Stay focused and motivated: Keep your vision in mind at all times. Stay focused on your goals and take consistent action towards them. Surround yourself with supportive and like-minded individuals who can help you stay motivated.
- Adapt and adjust: As you progress towards your goals, be open to adapting and adjusting your plan. Sometimes, unexpected opportunities may arise, or you may discover new paths to success. Be flexible and willing to make changes along the way.
By following these steps and developing a clear vision for your success, you can create your own opportunities and achieve great things.
Remember, successful people focus on their goals and create their own opportunities. They have a vision that guides them towards success. So, take the time to develop your own clear vision and start turning your dreams into reality.
